Book Fair in Kipsala evokes great interest of readers!

The 22nd International Book and Publishing Fair “Latvian Book Fair 2019”, facing increased attendance this year, concluded on 3 March.

A three-day attendance of “Latvian Book Fair 2019” was 16,367 – an increase of 13% over last year.

The fair brought together 103 participating companies from 8 countries – Latvia, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and Germany.

“Latvian Book Fair 2019” featured the first time participation of the Belarus National Stand “BELKNIGA” and the National Stand of Ukraine “Ukrainian Book”.

49 Latvian publishing houses presented and showcased their newest books and editions.

“Latvian Book Fair 2019” was packed with lots of exciting events taking up four venues of the fairground – Main Stage, Writers’ Lounge, Fun Reading Room and the Uzvediba.lv workshops.

The fair offered 102 cultural events that included 24 book launch events.

Over three days, there was an opportunity to meet at least 150 authors.

The international conference “The Search for Success Factors in the Reality of the Modern-Day Book Market” took place on the first day.

More than 23 participants offered kids and their parents to play board games, take part in masterclasses, competitions, creative and educational activities.

The Riga Central Library had prepared 5542 books for the Book Exchange Point, of which 2622 were fiction publications, 1096 books for children and youth, the rest – books covering different fields.
