| In Habitus Baltija 2013 Competition Fashion Shows Clothing Collections from 12 CountriesOne of the most significant fashion industry events in the Baltics the 13th Competition for Young Fashion Designers "Habitus Baltija 2013" is going to be held in Ķīpsala on 20 April. 44 fashion designers from 12 countries Croatia, Estonia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Finland, Great Britain and Hungary will present their exciting, new and extraordinary clothing collections at the competition for the judges and everyone else who is interested. One of the major fashion industry events in the Baltics the competition Habitus Baltija is gaining increasing popularity not only in the Baltic States and their neighbouring countries, but also among other young fashion designers and educational establishments abroad. This year for the first time educational establishments representing world famous networks of design and fashion schools, such as the European Institute of Design in Rome the fashion mecca of Italy and the International Fashion University ESMOD in Oslo, Norway are participating in the competition. The competition between the young fashion artists is expected to be particularly fierce, maintaining the intrigue till the very end of the competition, as many very notable and interesting clothing collections are to be announced, says Linda Lejiņa, Project Manager of Habitus Baltija 2013. The aim of the competition is to discover new talents, support the young fashion artists and to provide the opportunity to enrich their experience through the exchange of ideas and knowledge between the fashion designers and industry professionals. Judges prominent fashion experts The originality of the collections and quality of works is evaluated by an international panel of experts, led by Lara Aragno Gigli, the Director of the European Institute of Design in Rome . She is a fashion expert who used to work in the Armani couture team and has been the manager of the famous high fashion brand MiuMiu for more than 10 years. Other members of the jury are the world recognised Latvian designers Aļona Bauska and Katja Šehurina, Jennie Holloway, the Director of the incubator Fashion Enter from the UK, Liuba Popova, Costume and theatre designer, fashion journalist and professor from the Italy, Charlotte Verin, representative of the fashion portal Not Just A Label from the UK, Aigars Bikše, the Head of the Department of Visual Plastic arts of the Latvian Academy of Art, Olga Kolotova, Fashion Editorof the magazine L`Officiel Latvija and,Anita Sedliņa, fashion blogger and Fashion Editor of the fashion and lifestyle magazine Pastaiga, fashion blogger Dmitrijs Duboviks and other fashion experts. The Latvian team is represented by 11 young fashion artists 11 young fashion artists will be representing Latvia with their collections Andra Andžāne, Sabīne Groza, Ilze Aniņa, Eva Buķevica, Laura Švāne, Annija Ūdre, Iveta Freimane. In the school competition the Latvian Academy of Art is represented by Reinis Ratnieks and Edīte Treija, and Riga Technical University by Eva Borherte and Elīna Fursova. Valuable prizes The winners of the competition will receive certificates for pre-paid studies in NABA summer courses in Milan, Italy organised by the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan (Nuova Accademia di Belle arti Milano) and the summer courses organised by the European Institute of Design in Barcelona (IED Barcelona), certificates for participation in fashion competitions, opportunities for publicity exclusive interviews and reports on collections in the fashion portal NJAL (www.notjustalabel.com), the creation of an individual profile in the leading fashion portal of Great Britain www.fashioncapital.co.uk, including Fashion Enter (a support platform for new fashion designers), expert advice and help in the promotion of their own business, as well as various favourites prizes from the competition sponsors. The winner of the Grand Prix the Best Designer and the Best School will receive the Habitus Baltija 2013 statuette created by the Latvian metal artist Māris Šustiņš. The competition is organised by the International Exhibition Company BT 1 in cooperation with the Art Academy of Latvia, the Estonian Academy of Arts, Vilnius Academy of Arts, Krakow School of Art and Fashion Design and Tallinn University of Applied Sciences. The competition Habitus Baltija 2013 is organised simultaneously with the exhibition Fashion and Textile 2013 that is taking place from 19 21 April at Ķīpsala International Exhibition Centre.
