Panel discussion ”Forgotten foods: cultures and sustainability safeguards. Back to the roots. Economic dimensions. Environmental opportunities”
Return to the Roots: How can traditional crops and grandmother's recipes inspire new dietary habits? Participants will discuss how traditional or indigenous crops and ancient recipes can improve our diet and help overcome rising food prices.
Economic Aspects: The discussion will cover the economic benefits of reintroducing traditional, long-forgotten foods into our diets. How can memories of the past help create economically sustainable food systems that benefit both food producers and consumers today?
Ecological Opportunities: Participants will highlight the ecological advantages of cultivating and using these traditional crops and provide practical advice on how to integrate them into modern diets.
The project "Building Digital Education of Indigenous Inherited Crops for the Resilience of African Food Systems in the Climate Crisis," under which this discussion is being organized, has received funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2024 from the development cooperation budget.
