Free expert advice on health and wellbeing of mums and children

Agenda
Kids Expo Riga 2025 trade fair will offer designated rooms for consultations about health and wellbeing of mothers and children. To receive a free advice from excellent experts, future and young mums and parents of small children will have to make an appointment in advance.
Advance appointment is mandatory!
To make an appointment with a specialist or group session, click on the topic of your choice and choose the preferred appointment time. Consultations will be provided to all visitors of the Kids Expo Riga 2025.

New children’s health check-up programmes: opportunities and advantages
Have you and your child ever needed to make appointments with several specialists at once but you have to wait for several weeks or even months to get to specialist? Capital Clinic Riga has a solution: new children’s health check–up programmes. Kristīne Lazdiņa, project manager of Capital Clinic Riga, will tell all about them during her lecture.

Lecture will focus on three programmes: Concept Express, Before You Start School and Individual Health Check-Up for Your Child. Lecture will provide you with information about what these programmes include, how you can benefit from them, how each of the plans is structured and what check-up coordinator does. Baby care physiotherapy advice on baby handling
Specialist: Karlīna Kaire, certified physiotherapist, Capital Clinic Riga Karlīna Kaire specialises in motor skills assessment and facilitation in new-borns and infants based on Bobata therapy. She offers physiotherapy consultations and new-born handling/ergonomic care training, motor skill assessment and customised environment/exercise plans, exercise for children/adolescents for better posture, gait analysis and exercise plans (ergonomic work/learning space tips).

How to balance family life and professional growth
Balancing family life and professional growth is one of the biggest challenges for young parents. The fact that you have a child does not mean that your professional growth stops. It is rather a nice opportunity to reevaluate your priorities and rethink how you fulfil your professional ambitions. Moreover, both young parents are going through intense transition at this time, which makes it even more important for both parents to help each other.
Workshops and consultations will be moderated by Rudīte Nīcgale, career and professional development coach, transformational breathing and breath awareness teacher. Author of Career and Management Compass courses, wife and mother of two.

Santa Vula
Specialist: Santa Vula, certified pregnancy and postpartum fitness coach with 16-year experience, creator of BORN postnatal exercise home programme. The aim of the programme is to help women improve the quality of life after giving birth to a baby. BORN helps women get back in shape with mild 15-minute daily workout.

Santa Vula will offer tips on how to get slim waist after childbirth, how to handle a child and avoid uncomfortable positions or unnecessary pressure on your back, how to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and how to improve quality of life after the childbirth.

Inga Babure
Specialist: Inga Babure, certified doula and breastfeeding consultant with more than a decade long experience.

Advice on the progress of pregnancy, vital knowledge and skills, additional support available, difference between dad doula and midwife doula, what is a birth plan and why these plans are often sidetracked.

Silvija Ābele, PhD, nutritionist, the only certified GAPS (GAP – Gut and Psychology Syndrome) practitioner in Latvia, mother of three and author of several books. Has studied in depth low carbohydrate foods and their health benefits. Areas of special interest: how to assist children with autism spectre disorders, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder and learning difficulties. These areas are also the focus of Silvija Ābele’s master’s and doctoral thesis.

Specialist: Milda Saklauskaite (Lithuania). For the past seven years, Milda Saklauskaite has been helping parents understand and deal with positional head deformities in children. Founder of HE Vector, official distributor of Mimos pillows (for prevention and correction) in Lithuania and Latvia.

Early months are crucial for healthy and symmetrical development of baby’s head, and even a small correction can significantly change the infant’s head shape. Milda Saklauskaite will offer tips on how to safely and correctly measure infant’s head using craniometer to assess whether infant’s head is shaping normally or a correction is required. Practitioner will offer practical advice on prevention and care, including best sleeping and play positions that will ensure healthy development of baby’s head. Measurements using craniometer are performed on babies until the age of 16 months. Practitioner will consult in English.

Karina Karalkina, certified midwife, board member of social enterprise SIA Femina-S Have you ever met a midwife who is also a dance instructor and helps women maintain emotional balance through integrated individual psychosomatic methodology? Karina is an author of special support therapy for active young mothers and mothers-to-be. She has also conducted research, which proves that aroma therapy has a positive impact on mother’s psycho-emotional health after childbirth.

Areas: 1) Safe, healthy exercise during pregnancy and postpartum, partner’s role in facilitating faster postpartum recovery; 2) Partner’s role during family birth: opportunities, expectations and responsibilities; 3) Talking about sex: how to maintain and strengthen intimacy during pregnancy and after birth; 4) Masterclass: various massage techniques that you can safely use at home to strengthen your family; 5) Cardiotocography: foetal heart beat monitoring and midwife’s analysis. How to get ready for childbirth?
Specialist, moderator of group sessions: Kristīne Reikmane, certified birth doula, awareness coach, aroma therapy practitioner and mother of three. Individual consultations and groups sessions. Doula will listen to mother-to-be and help find answers crucial for preparing for childbirth, reducing pain, creating support team, as well as preparing for the critical and sensitive postpartum period.

Advice, group classes and individual consultations free of charge for expectant mothers and parents of babies from a doula, a midwife, a postnatal gymnastic coach, a physiotherapist, an art therapist, a career coach and other outstanding professionals.

Exciting adventures for children

“Kids Expo Riga” perfectly combines the useful for parents with the pleasant for children, as the fair will offer variety of exciting adventures! The special section "Children's Town" will run more than 50 different training and initiative centres, activity studios, hobby groups, sports schools, museums, clubs and creative houses offering fun and educational activities for children of all ages. “Children's Town” will also have the traditional block of safety where children and parents will have a possibility to meet police officers, rescuers, electricians, doctors and other specialists of special services who will teach all about safety. Moreover, as usual, there will be the big stage offering dance performances, songs and more...
