You can trust the dog and cat from "Labās Mājas"!
At the "Labās Mājas" animal shelter booth, exciting activities for children await, along with the chance to meet the shelter’s mascot, Robin. A four-legged resident from the shelter will also be present. To learn more about the shelter’s daily life, its dogs and cats, and adoption opportunities, it’s definitely worth visiting the booth!
While the dogs and cats stay at the "Labās Mājas" shelter, they receive comprehensive care — warmth, appropriate food, veterinary care, walks, and socialization. The shelter’s work is made possible only thanks to community support and donations.
Meet Chaky!
The small dog came to the shelter after a tough life change — her underage owner had to give her up because the dog wasn’t welcome at the new home. Chaky is nervous and fearful, but despite this, he can become a loyal companion for people with experience in raising dogs. Patience, the help of a dog trainer, and multiple visits are needed to ensure a successful adaptation. With those he trusts, Chaky is a true joy!
Chiepa — a dog with character!
Chiepa — a 5-6-year-old dog — came from a rural home where the dogs were kept chained in a shed without kennels. She regularly gave birth, and the puppies were given away to interested parties. Only after a shocking incident, when one of the puppies was killed, did the owner agree to let Chiepa and her puppies be taken in by animal protectors. The puppies have already found homes, but Chiepa is still looking for her true person. She’s sweet and affectionate but has character — stubborn, cautious with other animals, and not very friendly with other dogs. She would do best in a home without other pets and preferably without neighbor’s cats.
Mona — a dream, not a cat!
Mona spent nine years as a breeding tool for profit — a British Shorthair cat without papers, who gave birth to kittens many times for sale. When her owner left the country, Mona became unnecessary… For years, she received neither proper care nor even basic medical help — due to an infection, one of her eyes was permanently lost. Now Mona is finally safe and looking for a real home where a cat is a loved family member, not a profit-making tool. She is tidy, quiet, slow, and gentle — a true dream for cat lovers! New owners should be ready to provide Mona with high-quality food and some pampering, as she deserves it. The cat has been sterilized, treated, and is fully ready for a new beginning.
Buris — from street life to the status of a beloved cat
Black and white Buris is a former street kitten who has already taken his first steps toward fully trusting people. Shelter workers and volunteers have invested a lot of care in his socialization, and now Buris is ready to meet his true owners. He enjoys playing, being petted, and receiving affection, but he needs a calm and patient environment. He is ideal for people with experience raising cats and a desire to continue his socialization process. Within a couple of weeks, Buris will turn into a reliable, cozy, and affectionate house cat — all he needs is the chance!

Since 2012, the "Labās Mājas" animal shelter in Jugla has provided a well-equipped, animal-friendly environment where stray, abandoned, and ownerless animals find temporary homes.
At the "Labās Mājas" shelter booth, every visitor will be able to learn more about the shelter’s residents, their stories, and adoption opportunities. Maybe here you will meet your loyal friend, patiently waiting for their true person? Come by and get acquainted!
