The annual pet and animal trade show, PetExpo 2025, will take place at the Ķīpsala International Expo Centre on 1-2 March, bringing together four-legged participants and their owners from a whole host of countries. Visitors will have a chance to meet all kinds of dogs, cats and other pet animal breeds, as well as watching some truly exciting competitions. Event programme is packed with thrilling activities, including various shows, obedience and scent detection competitions, demonstrations. There will even be a real circus! Lots of exciting things for big and small.
Dog competitions and champion titles More than 3 500 dogs on 20 arenas will compete for national and international championship titles. There are 210 registered breeds in Latvia, whereas PetExpo will showcase
236 breeds, including some rare species like Japanese Kai Ken, Shikoku and Hokkaido, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Norfolk Terrier and many more. Dogs
from 13 countries will take part in the exhibition in Ķīpsala. There will be a specifically large delegation from Scandinavia. PetExpo 2025 is a place where you can learn more about Basenji dog from the Kongolese jungle. What is notable about this dog is that it does not bark. Both PetExpo days will conclude with a magnificent competition which will reveal the best dog of the show and also the overall winner. The best dogs of 2024, who have won the most titles during the year, will be awarded on 2 March.
Exclusive cat shows and breeds Trade show will offer a dazzling and colourful bunch of participants – more than
300 cats will compete for various titles in different categories. Altogether there will be
14 different breeds with cats that have monochromatic, patterned coats. Some will have white spots, and some will have none at all. What is interesting about this year’s PetExpo is that there will be unique breeds like Persian, Turkish Angora, Bengal and Bombay cat. Cats will compete on several rings – for kitten, junior cats, adult cats and neutered/sterilised cats. And, towards the end of the trade show, we will find out the best of them. Best in Show is the PetExpo competition that crowns the whole event, awarding the best specimen in each of the categories.
Tropical wonders PetExpo 2025 is a unique opportunity to also experience various exotic animals. Visitors will be able to plunge into the universe of monitor lizards, choose their favourite lizard and take a peek in to the tropical ecosystems inhabited by creatures about whose existence we have no clue. Come to Ķīpsala Expo Centre to have a closer look at the mysterious Mantis, or turtles that are famous for their longevity and tranquil nature. Owners of these animals will be able to give you useful advice and will be sharing their knowledge about keeping these exotic animals as pets, and how to take care of them and what their habits are.
Lots of events for audience of all ages Younger visitors will probably be excited about rabbits, ponies and goats, and also miniature rodents and birds. As for the entertainment and activities, there will be pony rides from Mežezeri Equestrian Club or, for example, free bouncy houses from Annels that you can merrily bounce around on. There will also be special activities for families, such as Canistherapy sessions and shows that will reveal the skills of young handlers. Everyone will find agility and combat sport demonstrations exciting. And let’s not forget about shows, during which dogs will demonstrate their unparalleled scent interpretation and detection skills. Circus performers will please visitors with sublime shows on both days of the exhibition. Their output promises to be utterly superb.
The best place to find new four-legged friend If you want to buy a pet, Ķīpsala and PetExpo is the right place for you. Come and see various cats and dogs for yourself. This is a trade show for all animal lovers, but it is especially valuable for those who are looking to add a new pet to their family. Informed choices are based on thorough research, and PetExpo is exactly the place where you can see the specific behaviour of various species, ask experienced breeders and get advice directly from kennels and their experts. Various clubs will have their booths where visitors will be able to access all the necessary information and choose the breed, and qualities, to their best liking.
NB! If you want to bring your non-competing dog to the show, before you buy ticket, you and your pet will have to go through veterinary checkpoint by Gate 11. Dog owners will be required to present dog’s veterinary health certificate.
