Higher education
State and private universities, and university colleges, will spend three days in Ķīpsala offering visitors information about entrance requirements, new study programmes in 2025/2026, publicly funded education, student exchange and internship programmes, and various extracurricular activities. Visitors will be able to chat with academic staff and students of Riga Technical University, Riga Stradiņš University (RSU), Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Latvian Academy of Culture, RSU Latvian Academy of Sport Education, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Latvian Maritime Academy of the Riga Technical University, National Defence Academy of Latvia, Turība University, RISEBA Business, Art and Technology University, Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, Transport and Telecommunication Institute, BA School of Business and Finance, Daugavpils University and numerous other universities.
Vocational education
Vocational schools, technical schools and colleges from all over Latvia will offer visitors of Ķīpsala Expo Centre extensive information about pros of choosing vocational education after 9 or 12 years of general education. Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Music Secondary School, Victoria Vocational School, Engineering High School of Riga Technical University, RTU International School of Science and Technology, RTU Olaine Technical College, RTU Liepāja Maritime College, Alberta College, Pauls Stradiņš Medical College of the University of Latvia, Riga Medical College of the University of Latvia, Riga Management College, Fire Safety and Civil Protection College and many others will be among the registered exhibitors.
Comprehensive education guide
To give everyone, especially those who have already completed or are about to complete their 9 or 12 year general education, a chance to find the right professional training here in Latvia, the State Education Development Agency (VIAA) will be happy to see everyone at their booth and explain how national education information database or NIID.lv works. Database contains extensive information about higher education, second-level vocational education, general education and musical education programmes available in Latvia. Moreover, visitors will also be introduced to Profesijupasaule.lv platform, which contains vast information about different professional working environments, image galleries and professional training choices.
Student exchange programmes
Fulfil your dreams and broaden your horizons – age is not an obstacle. During all three days of “Skola 2025”, VIAA booth will offer its visitors information about Erasmus+ programme – a student mobility scheme for pupils, professional college students, university students, lifelong learning students, teachers and academic staff. Experts will also advise on other international exchange programmes in general, vocational, higher and continuing education? Meanwhile, Time for the Young booth will offer information about informal education programmes that are specifically targeting and supporting children and young people’s inclusion.
Education abroad
Thinking about studying abroad? Then, “Skola 2025” should be on your to-do list. Ķīpsala Expo Centre will offer an opportunity to consult knowledgeable experts, explore education providers and choose the right fit for your interests. Trade fair will provide extensive information about courses, workshops, studies abroad and also how to pass the international language tests. Children and their parents will have access to most recent programmes from Tallinn University, Vytautas Magnus University, Tartu Applied Health Sciences University, Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences and Estonian Business School at the respective booths.
Job try on
Job try on is a fun activity from exhibitors that will allow children try different professions to learn more about what it is like to work in them or what hidden talents they actually have. For example, Fire Safety and Civil Protection College will give young people a chance to try on rescue gear, step into the shoes of a firefighter and rescue worker, as well as learning more about daily routines of shift leaders, team leaders, fire safety inspectors and 112 dispatch operators. Meanwhile, Pauls Stradiņš Medical College of the University of Latvia will offer simulations on dummies, during which teachers will allow everyone to perform guided emergency procedures, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and tracheal intubation, among other fun things.
Career guidance counsellors
This year, as usual, in partnership with Latvian Career Development Support Association, “Skola 2025” education trade fair will offer young people 30 minute career guidance sessions with professional counsellors. They will help youngsters explore various career options and choose the best fit for their personal preferences and maximum potential in terms of talent, areas of interest, skills and competences. Teachers, education experts, career counsellors and parents can also take part in the LCDSA’s “Career and life guidance young people”, which will take place on 21 February from 11am to 3pm in the Conference Hall 3. Technologies for better education
To allow teachers maximise the education efficiency and make it more fun, “Skola 2025” will offer extensive information and access to vast range of technologies and tools that can help them streamline education practices and make them even better. Different solutions will be presented by Redditum (digital blackboards/interactive smartboards), iDeal by C&C (Apple learning products), Kawai (pianos) and many other companies. Visitors will have an opportunity to test various innovative gadgets and applications, as well as receive instructions on how to integrate these tools in education.
Lots of informative events
The usual exhibitor display at the Ķīpsala Expo Centre will be complemented by two event stages – Datorium Technology Stage, with speakers focusing primarily on technologies, innovations and gaming industry trends, and an Open Stage, with all sorts of discussions, demonstrations and shows. Cakes for You on Our Anniversary campaign
Ready for a tasty treat? As the “Skola 2025” marks the 30th anniversary of the trade fair, everyone is warmly invited to join the Cakes for You on Our Anniversary campaign on 21 February from 10am to 1pm. During the cake campaign, various educational establishments will display and present their special anniversary treats – home-made cakes. All cakes will be displayed next to the Open stage until 1pm when they will be eaten by everyone who will come. Visitors will also be able to vote for the best cake of the campaign on the social media. So, you can also come and pick your favourite. Winners of the competition, or the educational establishment behind the best cake, will be announced on 23 February. The prize is 15% discount on exhibition slot for the next year’s trade fair.
