Education trade fair “Skola 2025”, which will take place at the Ķīpsala International Expo Centre on 21-23 February, offers plenty of events for both young people and teachers. Career counselling and workshops for teachers
While young people will be offered career counselling for the whole duration of the trade fair, teachers, educators and parents will be able to attend Latvian Career Development Support Association’s “Career and life guidance young people” on 21 February, which promises lots of interesting presentations and lectures focused on practical approaches. Ilze Ušacka – Priekule, certified career coach from Riga Stradiņš University, will explain how to recognise child’s talents through everyday activities, whereas Pauls Irbins, founder of Orbit 8 and president of the Latvian Space Industry Association, will show how to apply psychometric tests in selecting a career. Apple education technologies
iDeal by C&C stand with internationally-recognised education experts will provide interesting information about potential use of Apple technologies in education. There will be workshops about topics linked to creativity and coding on iPad, SamLabs innovative learning resource, use of iPad and AI in classrooms, Google Classroom, Google learning tools, iPad and JAMF School classroom management tools, Schoolify platform and Wacebo interactive monitors, as well as other tools. Science and innovations
Swiss-Latvian Cooperation Programme "Applied Research" launch event IMPOSSIBLE IS POSSIBLE will take place on 21 February on the Open Stage. The event for young people, scientists and innovators will focus on how science can become the future of any young person. Researchers like Mārtiņš Zaumanis, Gints Kučinsis and Anna Matule will talk about what it means to be a scientist and what are scientist’s main tasks. Anna Andersone, Co-creator, Board member of Riga TechGirls, will bust myths about girls in STEM. Event will be moderated by improvisation group “Gandrīz draugi/Almost Friends”, whereas entertainment from musicians Edavārdi and Katō will make the event even more exciting. Technologies and games
Datorium Technology Stage will offer a programme of events focusing on technologies, innovations and latest developments in the gaming industry. For three days, visitors of “Skola 2025” will have access to variety of informative panel discussions on finding first job, social media and data protection, impact of technologies on education and role of artificial intelligence in learning. In addition to panel discussions, there will also be e-sports competitions and interactive events. For example, each day of the trade fair will conclude with one lucky visitor winning a laptop.

“Skola 2025” will offer insightful lectures, masterclasses and other exciting activities on all three days of the trade fair. Cēsis State Gymnasium youth debate teams offer the debate “Should or not young people return to their home towns after university?”, during which they will face off debate teams from Iecava Secondary School and Riga State Gymnasium 1. On 22 February and 23 February, Adele Stanford, Headteacher of King’s College Latvia, will offer 11th and 12th-year students information about getting paid education in scope of International Baccalaureate’s Diploma Programme (IB DP).
