During all three days, young people flooded to university, college, vocational school and other education provider stalls to find out more about what they have to offer in terms of education in Latvia and abroad. Visitors had access to academic staff and students of Riga Technical University, Riga Stradiņš University (RSU), Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Latvian Academy of Culture, RSU Latvian Academy of Sport Education, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Latvian Maritime Academy of the Riga Technical University, National Defence Academy of Latvia, Turība University, RISEBA Business, Art and Technology University, Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, Transport and Telecommunication Institute, BA School of Business and Finance, Daugavpils University and numerous other universities to find out more about publicly funded education, student exchange and internship programmes, and various extracurricular activities. There was also information about various courses, language and other camps, and informal education programmes.
Young people were really keen to try on various trades, learning typical tricks, taking part in competitions and various other activities, as well as meeting with career counsellors.
Anniversary for us, cakes for you
On 21 February, the 30th anniversary of School trade fair was marked with a campaign Anniversary for us, cakes for you, during which educational establishments like Victoria Vocational School, Ogre Technical School, Pauls Stradiņš Medical College of the University of Latvia, Daria Pure Language School, Moreno Institute in Latvia and Daugavpils University treated everyone to a tasty celebratory snack. After the opening of School 2025, organisers invited everyone to have a piece of cake prepared by these educational establishments to celebrate the anniversary. Tasting concluded with a competition, during which visitors were asked to choose their favourite cake. The absolute winner with most votes was cake made by Pauls Stradiņš Medical College of the University of Latvia, which won a 15% discount on next year’s trade fair slot.
Diverse programme of events
This year the School trade fair had two stages: Datorium Tech Stage and Open Stage. Both stages offered a diverse programme of events. With more than 100 events, such as presentations, discussions, conversations, demonstrations, quizzes and shows, over three days, this was an impressive event. Educational establishment events notable for their overall composition and creativity, with real demonstrations, shows and interactive activities for young people, seemed to attract the biggest crowd.
On the first day, teachers, education professionals, career counsellors and parents could attend the Latvian Career Development Support Association’s inspiring “Career and life guidance for young people”, which is useful event for those working with youngsters. During all three trade fair days, iDeal by C&C stand offered presentations and practical demonstration of the one-of-the-kind EDU software. During these events, young people could try out various tools and applications that make learning more exciting and efficient. State Education Development Agency’s booth offered exciting quizzes that lead young people to deeper understanding of what Erasmus+ offers and what their future career could possibly be. They could also compete for valuable prizes and test their skills in scope of SkillsLatvia team relays and exam challenge, which required them to complete mock exams for 9th and 12th year students.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the next year’s School on 19-21 February. The 31st education trade fair School 2026 will, as usual, take place at the Ķīpsala International Expo Centre.
