Ķīpsala International Expo Centre will become the venue of the international automotive industry trade fair Auto 2025 Riga on 25-27 April, bringing surprising number of car brands and all-new models, several of which will be debuted on the Baltic market during the event. Visitors will have a chance to see the European Car of the Year 2025, several legendary classics that will return in an entirely new style, and new, both sports and electric versions of well-known models.
The return of the Legend after the prestigious award
One of the Baltic reveals of the International Motor Show Auto 2025 Riga will involve the legendary Renault 5 in its most recent, contemporary iteration. French carmakers new Renault 5 was crowned the European Car of the Year 2025 in this prestigious award earlier this year. It is the only other case in the 62-year long history of the annual award when the same brand wins twice in a row – last year’s winner was Renault’s Scenic E-Tech.
The new Renault 5 E-Tech comes exclusively and only as an electric car. However, it has not lost its well-known, classic features that were created between early 70s and mid-90s. Like its predecessor, the new Renault 5 E-Tech will definitely appeal to those looking for a cheaper option as this model will cost way under 30 thousand euro, which is very affordable for a modern EV and among lowest offers on the market.
Shipped for the trade fair only
Opel Frontera will have a special reveal ceremony at the International Motor Show Auto 2025 Riga. After being shipped and debuted in Riga, it will go away and will only return to our market in summer. Frontera is the name that petrolheads will remember well. This 90s car was one of the most luxurious SUVs of its time. After almost 20 years, the legendary Opel Frontera will return with the model’s new generation of cars availably only as either a mild hybrid or pure EV. New Frontera will substitute the old Crossland in the Opel range of cars. Moreover, Opel will not only bring the new Frontera to the International Motor Show Auto 2025 Riga, but will also showcase all-new versions of its entire line of SUVs, including the recent iteration of Grandland and upgraded Mokka.
Dacia has never been so kitted out
Panoramic glass roof and electrically-adjustable seats are the features you are most likely to find in a premium-level car, and now also in more affordable cars made by Dacia. By the way, the new Bigster (also premiered to Baltic audiences at the Riga show) is the biggest car in the makers manufacturing range. Although Bigster might look like its SUV Duster from a distance, it is actually much bigger, the whole 23 centimetres. Bigster SUV is Dacia’s debut on the market for SUV C-class segment, which has been dominated until now by likes of Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Tucson. Buyers looking for cars in this class want panoramic glass roof and electrically-adjustable seats as part of the standard package. That is exactly why Dacia decided to install these extra features on its biggest model.
Sporty Nismo returns as EV
Nissan is bringing back the sports version of Nismo to its manufacturing range. Vehicle electrification led to gradual phasing out of the Nismo petrol-fuelled model, and now Japanese manufacturer is ready to make all car enthusiasts happy again. Nismo, the sportier version of the well-known EV Nissan Ariya, is now available, powered by 130HP bigger engine than the standard and capable of reaching 435HP. This gives car the 0-100km/h acceleration in five seconds. However, Ariya Nismo can reach good speeds also beyond straight line racing. To improve the balance, body control and driveability at high speeds, Ariya Nismo has a completely reworked suspension and recalibrated springs and shock-absorbers. The improved steering wheel is more responsive and precise, which gives additional agility and reaction or ability to stick to the line along the curve 12% more efficient.
Škoda Enyaq you won’t even recognise
Another trade fair premier is revamped Škoda Enyaq that has been modernised so much you will barely recognise it. Usually, such radical transformations accompany switch to a new generation of vehicles, but Czech manufacturer has decided to do it in the middle of model’s life cycle, introducing a modernised version. One of the reasons for the transformation is brand’s new choice of design language, the Modern Solid, which will be used in manufacturing of all Škoda models from now on. Trade show will also showcase the new Elroq that has the same design approach and has been criss-crossing the Latvian roads for months already. Contrary to the popular Enyaq EV, the new Elroq is smaller in size and more affordable. Moreover, Škoda even boasts that its Elroq costs as little as similarly-sized Kamiq that has internal combustion engine.
Fiery Cupra is joined by similarly fiery motorbikes
The sports car brand Cupra will focus its exhibition area on the newest edition of Terramar SUV, named after a race track in Spain. Terramar is a natural and important addition to Cupra range, which until now included solely manufacturer’s compact class cars. In comparison with better known Formentor, which will appear at the trade show in its updated version, the new Terramar has more room. Most recent Cupras will be accompanied by Ducati motorbikes because the authorised dealer of Cupras in Latvia, Autobrava is also the official distributor of legendary Italian bikes from this year. Visitors will be able to feat their eyes on the new Ducati Multistrada V with 114 HP engine that suits the more adventurous and touring styles of riding.
The established Audi A4 will now become A5
Audi has restructured its line of new models and given new series names to its range. The established A4 series that we knew for the past three decades has now become A5 and all even numbers in various series manufactured by German carmaker will be reserved for Evs from now on, whereas odd numbers will signify internal combustion cars. The new Audi S5, which will make its appearance at the Riga motor show, was released this year and packs a 367 HP three-litre turbo engine. New A6 e-tron estate EV will also be on display at Audi stand, alongside the Q6 e-tron SUV. Both of the cars are built based on manufacturer’s newest EV platform.
Great variety of Chinese car brands
Auto 2025 Riga is not the first motor show to display Chinese car brands. But this is the first time that there will be so many Chinese cars, including models that have already had roaring success on the European markets. One of the most notable brands is BYD (Build Your Dreams), which has become the largest globval manufacturer of electric vehicles and has already surpassed the previous leader, Tesla, in terms of sales volumes. Dongfeng, one of the oldest Chinese brands on the car market, also did spectacularly well last year in Latvia. They range includes cars that cost little more than 20 thousand euro, but can go as high as almost 200 thousand euro. Lynk is one of the newcomers on the market, but do not disregard their close ties with Swedish Volvo. Lynk is bringing two models to Riga International motor show – a hybrid and an EV. Meanwhile, Great Wall Motor is not new to Latvian consumers. Last year their Ora 03 became the best-selling electric car in Latvia, and they will premier their hot new hybrid Wey 03 at the Auto 2025 Riga motor show.
Some brands that missed out on several trade shows are coming back with new cars
This year’s fair will have the biggest diversity of car brands in recent years. Brands that were absent from several previous motor shows are coming back with great news. Alfa Romeo will present its new electric SUV Junior Elettrica and Jeep will demonstrate its new Grand Cherokee. If you are looking for something more special, the American sportscar manufacturer’s Corvette C8 Stingray coupe or the massive RAM 1500 CrewCab Tungsten will make your day.
Hyundai, another well-known brand, will present its newest EV Inster that is available for less than 30 thousand euros, and staples like Kona EV or the sportier version N-line. Kia will present its smallest EV to date, EV3, updated EV6 and its big SUV, EV9.
Japanese Honda will present the full range of its manufactured cars, from compact Jazz to the popular CR-V. Volkswagen will also have similarly strong representation at the International Motor Show Auto 2025 Riga with models starting from T-Roc and all the way up to the new Tayron. Meanwhile, Toyota will bring various versions of its Proace commercial car to this year’s Riga motor show.
French car company Peugeot will display its 2008 Hybrid SUV and electric e-5008, as well as Traveller minivan. Citro?n will bring its newest creation e-C3, which similar to other manufacturers is an EV that costs below 30 thousand euro.
After a 10 year pause, Kia will return to the International Motor Show Auto 2025 Riga to present three new generation Evs that are fully electric: its flagship Kia EV9, modern and sporty Kia EV6 FL’ and the extraordinary Kia EV3’.
