The largest food industry trade fair in the Baltics, Riga Food, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025, will take place at the Ķīpsala International Expo Centre on 4-6 September. Riga Food 2025 will present numerous international and local producers, technology experts. There will be food competitions, presentations of new products, informative workshops and business networking, partner search events.
Riga Food is an internationally renowned trade fair that boasts diverse exhibition, attracts enormous industry interest and generates substantial media exposure. “We have gone through various challenging moments and been exposed to unexpected external factors over the past three decades – we have adapted each time while also making the fair bigger and more successful. We have come to a point where we can say: “Riga Food” is the largest Baltic food industry exhibition recognised around the world. First trade fair took place in 1996. We had 139 companies from 5 countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany and Belarus. Today Riga Food is proud to present industry professionals from 50 world countries. Last year we welcomed 425 companies from 32 countries. We are continuously working to reach out to more international companies and give participants of Riga Food broader international business cooperation platform,” Rolands Nežborts, Riga Food director, is convinced.
Riga Food 2025 will be held in two pavilions. Pavilion 1 with culinary adventures for wider audiences, Latvian regional stands, homemade goods, cooking competitions, exciting events on Gemoss stage, different other activities and tasting events, and Pavilion 2 with stands of international companies, national stands, food technologies and packaging, innovation stands and insightful discussion on the trade fair’s Main Stage.
It is expected that Riga Food 2025 will be attended by 430 exhibiting companies from at least 30 countries, with roughly 21,000 visitors coming to see the fair.
Latvian cuisine
Each Latvian region has its unique culinary history, heritage, treasures and homemade goods that will all be displayed during the Riga Food 2025 in September. Latvian national stand will offer a wide array of local foods, beverages and ingredients.
Food innovations
Trade fair is a great way to find out more about advanced innovations in food industry. Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian innovation stands will offer a peak at latest products, technologies and innovations developed by researchers in collaboration with the industry. For companies and artisan producers Riga Food is the main venue for unveiling new products. Visitors are encouraged to taste them and give feedback on which qualities of particular food product should be enhanced.
Diverse event programme
Three-day Riga Food 2025 trade fair will offer an extensive programme of events targeting both food industry professionals and foodies. Main Stage, GEMOSS stage, competition area in Pavilion 1, Riga Food guestroom and exhibitor stands will become the stage for lots of exciting and valuable events.
Riga Food 2025 opening ceremony will be held on 4 September at 11:00 on the Main Stage of Riga Food.
Riga Food 2025 Sustainable Packaging Competition, organised by Packaging Association of Latvia together with BT1 International Expo Company, is an event drawing particular attention to significance of sustainable packaging.
Best products in the Baltics
In its third year, the acclaimed food quality competition, Baltic Taste Award, will continue to provide Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian producers an expert evaluation of their products, while consumers will be able to find out which of them are considered the best and the tastiest. The aim of the competition is to establish foods that have the best quality, and promote them internationally, thus contributing to product and brand recogni-tion, publicity and sales. It also boosts product quality. Entries are judged by international jury. Competition medals are a testimony of high quality, so catering companies can follow expert opinions and implement these food products into their menus because of their great and excellent quality. Competitions for chefs, apprentice chefs and bakery chefs
Chefs from all over Latvia will gather at Ķīpsala to test their culinary skills and fight for the title of Best Chef 2025 and Best Apprentice Chef 2025 during the Riga Food 2025 trade fair. Best Latvian chefs competing in Ķīpsala will also compete for a spot in the prestigious international culinary competition Bocuse d’Or semifinals. Zero Waste Challenge 2025 is another Riga Food competition. Baltic professional culinary school teams are encouraged to compete while also raising awareness not only about the taste qualities of the food, but also food waste and amount of leftovers generated by the industry.
The second ever Riga Food Latvian Restaurant Pastry Chef competition will promote baking as an industry and profession – most experiences and skilful chefs and pastry chefs will contest the Lavazza Golden Cup, competition’s travelling prize. Meanwhile, Gemoss stage will become the venue for visitors-favourite Generational Legacy cake competition with best Latvian cake makers from all corners of the country bringing their best skills to the table.
A look back at the Riga Food 2024
425 companies from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Armenia, Belgium, China, Germany, Spain, Great Britain, Georgia, Italy, Moldova, Poland, Portugal, USA, Finland, Turkey, Sweden, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Mexico, France, India, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Canada, Slovenia, Denmark, Czech Republic, Romania and Sri Lanka, or the total of 32 countries, chose Riga Food 2024 to present their products and services. 70 % of exhibitors represented manufacturing sector, 25 % – retail or wholesale segment, 3 % – services and 2 % came from other sectors. Riga Food 2024 had the total of 12 national stands – Latvia, Lithuania, Armenia, Ukraine, Italy, Spain, Georgia, Canada, Moldova, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Mexico.
In three days, Riga Food was visited by 21,806 visitors, of which 33 % came from other countries. Riga Food attracted professional visitors from 43 countries. According to professionals, the main reason for visiting trade fair was to gather information, new contacts, and make purchase orders. Retail chains from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain and Ukraine, such as Stockmann, Rimi, Elvi, TOP, Depo, Narvesen, Lidl, Maxima, Citro, Sky and Varus, were widely represented along with wholesalers from several countries, for example, Monolith, Wholesalehub and others.
