NEW BOOKS:- Collection of stories by Ingrida Zake “Šugerbušs” (2023, publishing house Zvaigzne ABC) opens a new page in Latvian literature - ironic stories. The author herself says about her characters: “Šugerbušs is the Latvian Mister Bean. Šugerbušs is awkward. Somewhere he wanders among us in his own way, as if he doesn’t bother anyone, but when we bump into him in some casual situation, we get shocked: who is he?! Where do such beings come from? What to do with them? He is not alone. There are weird individuals like him walking around. And everyone has their own story.” The author will be present in the exhibition stand all three open days.
- The detective novel by Guntis Talers “Pēdējais klients” (2022) took part in the publishing house`s “Zvaigzne ABC” detective novel competition and was awarded the first prize. The author will also offer other recently published works at the exhibition – detective novels “Monstra rotaļu laukums” (2022) and “Grēksūdzes noslēpums” (2023), as well as collection of horror stories “Nemierīgās dvēseles. Veļu laika stāsti.” (2022). The author will be present in the exhibition stand every day from 1.00 p.m.
- “Ukrainas vēsture” (2022) – the materials collected by several Latvian historians in the editorship of Imants Liepiņš is a unique story. It is especially important to understand this at a time when Russia is waging an unprovoked war against Ukraine, which also changes Latvia’s security situation. More than ever, research is needed that refutes the Kremlin’s efforts to obfuscate the truth about Ukraine. Therefore, this book, in which readers will learn about decisive events in Ukraine from prehistory to the present day, is undoubtedly relevant." (Prof. Dr. oec. Inese Vaidere, Member of the European Parliament).
We will also introduce the most important cultural events of 2023 in the Tukums region.

REPRESENTATIVES: The Chief of the Liepaja branch of the Latvian Writers’ Union Linda Zulmane and authors Jana Egle, Gunita Lagzdiņa, Gunita Boka, Gunta Šnipke; in the role of the ceremony master – Liepu tēvs or Varis Siliņš.
OFFERED BOOKS: Jana Egle, collection of poems “Ledus debesis” (2023); Gunita Lagzdina, “Lāde vaļā” (2020) and “Pareizs laiks” (2022); Gunita Boka, collection of stories “Balss no tumsas tajā krastā” (2022); Gundega Rezevska, collection of poems “Robežupes plūst un mainās” (2022); Varis Silins, Liepaja legends “Liepu tēva teikas” (2021); Eriks Vilsons, collection of poems “Pulkveža rudens” (2021); L (Liene Gūtmane) poems "Nestāsti" (2022).
NEW BOOKS:- Gunita Lagzdina, novel “Pareizs laiks” (2022., Zvaigzne ABC). In her sparkling and humorous language, she deals with the topics of relationships, which are far from easy. The main character, Tereze, returns to Latvia after a ten-year absence to start all over again. Fate keeps giving her the wrong men - will everything work out this time or is there another slap on the forehead with the rake of karma?
- Gundega Rezevska, collection of poems “Robežupes plūst un mainās” (2022). It is divided into three parts: “Woman”, “Man” and “The East". The poems are created as conversations with the reader, written from both a woman’s and a man’s point of view, but everyone can read them differently.
- Gunita Boka, collection of stories “Balss no tumsas tajā krastā” (2022). The editor of the book Jana Egle says: " Gunita Boka’s stories have their own special voice. It tells about things what hurt, what touches the soul. Which, somewhere deep in the dark shore of the subconscious mind, keeps reminding us that everything is perishable and transitory. But Gunita stands on the bright side, the voice of her message is peaceful and warm, it speaks the language of love."
- Jana Egle, collection of poems “Ledus debesis” (2023). It marks an important stage in the creative life of the author and summarizes the poetry created over 20 years. "It is poetry with tenderness, vigor and an intimate view of oneself inside and outside - of the world. The collection marks both serious maturity and the temptation of fresh feelings," says the publisher "Latvijas Mediji".
- L (real name Liene Gūtmane) book "Nestāsti" (2022) - the author’s fourth collection of poems, which, according to the words of the author, are "both stories and unsent letters or undeveloped photographs written with words and rare punctuation marks, as well as entries in irregular and illogical diary of emigrant and dreamer".
