“...this is a time for noble aims, high resolve, and intense endeavour...”
Visitors to the exhibition are given the opportunity to get acquainted and pick out for themselves literature that is not available in other bookstores in Latvia. The writings of Baha’u’llah, the Bab and ‘Abdu’l-Baha, which have been translated into more than 800 languages of the world, can now be read in Latvian. At our exposition, you can also get acquainted with books about almost two hundred years of history of the development of the Baha’a community. The texts of the scriptures and a huge number of prayers help to realize the highest meaning and purpose of our life, as well as to navigate the rapid changes in our world.
- Baha’u’llah. Apslēptie vārdi=The Hidden Words. [Rīga]: Rīgas Bahai ticības draudze, 2022. “Hidden Words” is a collection of utterances that reveal the meaning of our lives and talk about the meaning of our relationship with God.
- Baha’u’llah. Baha’u’llah vēstuļraksti, kas atklāti pēc Kitab-i-Aqdas=Tablets of Baha’u’llah revealed after the Kitab-i-Aqdas. Rīga: Rīgas Bahai ticības draudze, 2022.
- This collection of sixteen Tablets, which Baha’u’llah revealed after the Kitab-i-Aqdas, contains some of His most important works. ‘Abdu’l-Baha refers to these Tablets in His Writings when he says: “Direct thine attention to the holy Tablets; read thou the Ishraqat, Tajallayyat, the Words of Paradise, the Glad Tidings, the ?ar?zat, the Most Holy Book. Then wilt thou see that today these heavenly Teachings are the remedy for a sick and suffering world, and a healing balm for the sores on the body of mankind. They are the spirit of life, the ark of salvation, the magnet to draw down eternal glory, the dynamic power to motivate the inner self of man.”
- Viena kopīga ticība=One Common Faith. [Rīga]: Rīgas Bahai ticības draudze, 2022. An enduring benefit of the 20th century is that it forces the peoples of the world to view themselves as members of a single human family, and the globe as the common homeland of all mankind. God is one for all and despite the diversity of cultural expressions and human interpretations, religion is also one. This truth must be at the heart of religious discussion for to it be influential. Attached to the publication is the 2002 letter of the Universal House of Justice to the leaders of world religions.
- Dzīvības avots: Bahāju raksti pārdomām= Source of Life: Baha’a Writings for Reflection. [Rīga]: Rīgas Bahai ticības draudze, 2022.
- “...this is a time for noble aims, high resolve, and intense endeavour...”: compilation of extracts from the writings of Baha’u’llah and ‘Abdu’l-Baha and letters of Shoghi Effendi and the Universal House of Justice / prepared by the International Teaching Centre September 2020. - The Life of Baha’u’llah. [Rīga]: Rīgas Bahai ticības draudze, 2022. In a simple and straightforward style, this book tells the story of Bah?’u’ll?h, the Founder of the Baha’a Faith. Baha’u’llah, whose name means “the Glory of God,” gave up wealth and power to bring humanity the Message of God for this age. This book tells of His love for all peoples and the sufferings He endured in the pathway of God.
The Baha’a Faith is a world religion that teaches principles like the unity of humankind, equality of men and women, and the elimination of prejudice. It is the world’s second-most widespread religion after Christianity, spanning the globe and working to unite it. Baha’as believe in each person’s capacity to find the truth for themselves, and there is no clergy — Baha’as gather together in democratically-led communities and welcome everyone.
The Baha’a community in Latvia has been involved in social action for the last several decades. We have several activities open to everyone. There are classes for children, where spiritual qualities like kindness, truthfulness, and generosity, are taught. We also have classes for junior youth (aged 12-15), where they are able to learn similar lessons, and also have a safe space to share the challenges their age can bring. For youth and adults, we hold prayer meetings, where friends can share some prayers from any religion, and also discussion nights to learn how we can contribute to the betterment of society. Anyone is welcome to join our events!
