How to balance family life and professional growth if you are a young parent

“Sometimes, it takes one idea, a perspective, to trigger a change for better,” Rudīte Nīcgale, career and professional growth coach, is confident. She will provide young parents, especially dads, free advice and workshops on 8 March, during the Kids Expo Riga 2025.

Balancing of family life and professional growth is one of the biggest challenges that young parents face. Having a baby does not mean that family should abandon its professional aspirations. It is rather an opportunity to review priorities and find new ways towards personal fulfilment. Moreover, mums, and also dads, are going through a major transition at this time, so it is important to help each other. Help getting adjusted to the new pace of life, as well as finding the best way to reconcile family and work life, and create appropriate environment where both parents are sharing their roles and tasks.

Workshops and consultations offered by Rudīte Nīcgale will give young parents guidance on how to deal with many critical issues, such as how to detect and overcome hidden discrimination against women returning to work after maternity leave. Rudīte will help couples step into each other’s shoes, making dads aware of what a young mum wants and needs to be find fulfilment in family and work life, whereas mums will be given male perspective on balancing family duties and professional career. This exercise encourages sharing of tasks, instead of making women address these challenges alone.

How to raise a child without losing professional relevance? How can a man support woman when a career lady has become a full-time mother? Workshop is designed for those who are looking to regain their professional confidence.

Workshop will look at the following questions:

The saying ‘work is not a rabbit; it will not run away’ is no longer valid. IT WILL RUN AWAY! Find out how to be RAEDY when the opportunity comes knocking and have confidence in your professional abilities at all times.

Workshop will look at the following questions:
Unforeseen, yet promising openings: how to spot them and use them?
Inner readiness vs external factors: how to be ready at all times?
Confidence and communication: how to present yourself when opportunities comes?
Career strategy: how to create a profile, CV and networks that help make you visible?
Flexibility and adaptability: how to change mindset and not be afraid of change?
