LEADING TRADE FAIR ORGANISER IN THE BALTIC STATES

British and Italian supercars will try to win the hearts of Baltic Motor Show Riga “Auto 2025”

From 25th to 27th of April all visitors will be able to feats their eyes on the British supercar manufacturer’s McLaren new Artura, which as many modern formula racing cars combines six-cylinder petrol engine and electric engine in its drive. And that is not the only supercar that will be on display at the Ķīpsala International Expo Centre during the 30th anniversary Baltic Motor Show Riga “Auto 2025”. Whatcar.lv, car review platform for buyers, and other exhibitors will offer plenty to see.

Electrification that everyone will like
McLaren Artura is not the first hybrid supercar from this manufacturer. More than a decade ago, McLaren introduced its flagship model, the P1, which became the first supercar in the world with the hybrid technology, coming on top of all other well-known supercars in a circuit lap race. Such combination of engines clearly showed that Evs can compete in the super league. There is no other way, the electric engine reaches maximum torque almost instantly. Combined with a combustion engine, it works best because combustion engine needs high rpm to reach maximum speed.

Artura is McLaren’s supercar for the new age, and its name comes from combination art + future. It is a supercar that will be displayed by whatcar.lv in Ķīpsala over the course of all three days and can reach 680 HP, with the drive of three-litre, six-cylinder petrol engine supported by an electric engine. This means that a rear-wheel drive McLaren Artura can speed from nought to 100 kph in 2.9 seconds, reaching the maximum speed of 330 kph.

Its electric engine is not only contributing to more sporty driving style and power, but it can also be used as the main engine in full EV mode. Yes, 31-kolemeter range fully charged does not sound too impressive these days, however, such range is good enough to enjoy a quite everyday commute once in a while, without drawing too much attention from others … well, to an extent, when you are driving the McLaren. What is interesting is that this car does not have the reverse shifting, you can only reverse when using the electric drive. Yes, 31-kolemeter range when fully charged does not sound too impressive these days, however, it is perfectly enough for enjoying your daily commute in total silence without drawing large attention from others when necessary…at least to the extent possible when driving the McLaren. By the way, this model does not have the reverse gear, you can only drive backwards when in electric drive.

German classics in racing setup
whatcar.lv will also bring to Ķīpsala a restored 1973 Porsche 911, which has been kitted out using the legendary RSR tuning approach. RS means rennsport in German, and it basically describes a racing car that has been made roadworthy. It is a manufacturer’s car that is good to go racing. Meanwhile, RSR version makes the car even more desirable because it has extended wheel arches and other visually impressive aerodynamic features.

In addition to exterior and interior redesigning, this classic Porsche also has better technical features, which original RSR cars had. It has upgraded braking system, oil cooling system, ignition, and also a much improved suspension. Its gearbox has also gone through major overhaul, and the engine based on 3.0 SC can also be fitted with mechanical fuel injection instead of the current two carburettor setup. Porsche 911 is one of the most coveted cars in each of its iterations, but the original RSR version is quite exclusive and can rarely be found as it was limited to several dozen back in the day.

From racetrack to regular roads
Toyota GR Yaris is a unique specimen in the current world of car manufacturing. This powerful three-door hatchback from the Japanese car builders sporting department Gazoo Racing is made according to WRC homologation rules. A small, yet feisty and really sporty hatchback is a rare spectacle on modern roads and that is why both market and experts were excited about the release of GR Yaris as much as in the case of the now-legendary Lancia Delta Integrale, Ford Escort RS Cosworth or Peugeot 205 T16.

And GR Yaris has not disappointed. It boasts not only very robust 4WD, but also the most powerful three-cylinder petrol engine any mass production car has that can reach 305 HP. Quite impressive, especially because it only has a 1.6L engine, whereas other manufacturers need at least a 2L turbo engine to achieve the same power.

The GR Yaris that will be on display at the Ķīpsala International Expo is an updated version that is now available with manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. Car’s body has also, for example, acquired a new front bumper that is made of several individual parts – if driver damages bumper during a race, he or she can just buy and replace the damaged section, instead of replacing the whole bumper like before.

Modified Lamborghini supercars
When Lamborghini introduced the market to its SUV Urus, it became the most powerful mass-produced SUV. Although many frown upon, the legendary Italian supercar manufacturer continues to make these SUVs. Be it as it may, Urus has become the most popular model in the Lamborghini’s range, and buyers have to wait for almost two years to get their hands on one. Whereas second-hand models may cost even more than a new car due to high demand and desire of buyers to acquire them. Performante is the latest and most powerful iteration of the series that will also make an appearance at the Riga motor show. In comparison with a standard Urus, this car has times more power, it weighs less and has better aerodynamics. Its V8 turbo engine’s Performante version will give you 666 HP, speeding from nought to 100 kph in mere 3.3 seconds, reaching the maximum speed of 306 kph.

Another Lamborghini supercar that could just make it to the trade fair is an offroad version of Lamborghini Huracan Evo supercar in the special Sterrato setup that was applied on the limited number or 1 499 units of this car. Sterrato line of Lamborghini cars is known for not only having the characteristics of a supercar while driving in less characteristic environment, but also the fact that it is the last model in the range of Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini that has not been equipped with an electric drive. It still carries a 5.2L V10 atmospheric petrol engine, full wheel drive and ceramic brakes. Compared to standard supercars, it has bigger clearance, additional bottom protection and slightly different suspension setup. Moreover, this two-door coupe has Rally mode for offroad driving, just like the aforementioned Urus Performante SUV, a setup that works well on road surfaces with decreased tire traction.

Other sporty and powerful cars
Exhibitors at the Baltic Motor Show Riga Auto 2025 will also showcase other new sportscars, such as the Moller Auto who will showcase the new Audi S5 at their stand. This is a car that was released only this year, equipped with 367 HP 3L petrol turbo charger. Quattro four-wheel drive allows it to speed up from nought to 100 kph in just 4.5 seconds. Whereas its competitor from the other side of the Atlantic, Corvette C8 Stingray, is the new generation of American supercar that closely resembles Italian supercars in terms of appearance. Many laughed at Corvette in the previous decades, claiming that it is a car that is fast only when going straight. Now, however, the latest generation of cars created by American engineers is a proper sportscar in full sense of the word – this modern, sporty car has all the attributes of sportscar – it is a muscle car with 500 HP V8 engine that makes it highly competitive around the complicated Nürburgring and in terms of lap times has placed it alongside the Lamborghini Huracan and McLaren 12C.
