Children’s folk dance ensembles invite to the concert “The Best of Latvian Folk Dance in Jurmala”
Dzintari Concert Hall invites to the folk dance concert “The Best of Latvian Folk Dance in Jurmala” by the children’s dance groups Stariņš (Kuldīga), Teiksmiņa (Riga), Vizbulīte (Sigulda) and the folk dance ensemble Zelta sietiņš (Riga) at 16.00 on 8 September.
Inga Pulmane, a creative director, tells that the concert “The Best of Latvian Folk Dance in Jūrmala” has become a tradition and takes place in the end of summer in Dzintari. This year, spectators will see the youngest generation of dancers whose joy of dancing, mastery of dance steps and figures will give spectators much pleasure.
In the first part, each dance group will present dances of their choice beloved by both spectators and dancers themselves, while in the second part the children’s folk dance ensembles Teiksmiņa and Zelta sietiņš will perform a dance spectacle “We Won’t Stop” inviting the audience to set out on a fantasy trip. The song cycle recently created by Raimonds Pauls and Guntars Račs, and performed by the children’s vocal group Dzeguzīte urges to travel with the wind and dandelion fluff, see, feel, meet and dare to build castles of sand up to the sky, wonder, explore and grow. The expressive dance language, original choreographies with elements of mime, rock, country, pop and other dance styles make these fun children songs easy to understand, but bright and transformable costumes help young artists to metamorphose from a character to character in no time.
