Renowned designers meet at Habitus Baltija 2014

Peter Ingwersen (Denmark), Paul Marchand (France), Lara Aragno Gigli and Giovanni Otonello (Italy) – these are the biggest names and acclaimed designers in the world of fashion, and they are coming in early April to Riga.

The foremost design thinkers will speak at the Fashion. Creativity. Concept seminar on 4 April, but on 5 April we will see these fashion gurus in the panel of judges of the 2014 Habitus Baltija International Competition for Young Fashion Designers. Both events are included in the calendar of Riga – European Capital of Culture 2014.

Peter Ingwersen’s working life began with an internship at Levi's in Brussels, a manufacturer of the copper studded blue jeans invented and patented by Riga-born Jacob W. Davis in 1873. He continued to work for them for almost 20 years, becoming a director of Levi’s Europe, based in Brussels. In 2004 he founded fashion label NOIR and the cotton fabric brand ILLUMINATI II with the aim of combining luxurious fashion with ecological responsibility and sustainable practice. Peter Ingwersen is going to tell how to win shareholder value and net profit in an ever changing and challenged fashion world by focusing on story-telling and brand DNA. He will also meet with small and medium-sized businesses willing to develop a fashion label of their own in future.

How to be more creative with simple assignments in fashion design and pattern making? He gained a training experience working with such noted fashion brands as Yves Saint Laurent, Nina Ricci, Frederic Castet International and Cacharel, but his greatest passion is the Paul Marchand underwear brand registered in 1997.
