Seminars for fashion and textile professionals at Baltic Fashion & Textile Riga

To ensure the competitiveness of the Baltic textile and fashion industry in today’s global and dynamic market, industry professionals – manufacturers and their representatives, agents, distributors, representatives of trade organizations and industry associations, as well as fashion designers are invited to attend the largest in the Baltics fashion and textile exhibition Baltic Fashion & Textile RIGA 2019 to be held at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre in Riga from 26–28 April.

The seminar "Fashion and Design: Fashion Industry and Trends" takes place on the first day of the exhibition, April 26, from 12.00–15.00. Miguel Angelo Carvalho, an entrepreneur, professor and researcher at University of Minho (Portugal), will tell about productivity in the apparel industry. The importance of team building; costs management (labour and material); increasing productivity and flexibility with best use of work study, production planning and quick response philosophy of teamwork will be discussed. Mr Carvalho is a textile engineer, holds a master degree in design and marketing, and a PhD in textile engineering.


Colours strategies and creative Fashion & Lingerie inspirations for Fall-Winter 2020-2021will be unveiled by Pavina Souvanlasy from Carlin Creative Trend Bureau, France. Nowadays it is important not only to know and be able to explain the wishes understand and anticipate what will drive future consumers’ desires, but also a unique talent to explain and bring these trends to life thanks to a synergy of disciplines such as marketing, product design, research and innovation. Pavina graduated from a French Business school with a major in Digital Marketing and Communication. She has extensive experience in the field of innovations and the fashion industry, as well as unique expertise in business development.

On 26 April, 10.00–12.00, the Latvian Technology Centre will held a seminar “Textile Industry and Business Culture in Latvia and Baltic States”. Guntis Strazds, Chairman of the Association of Textile and Clothing Industry, will introduce visitors to the textile industry in Latvia; Rimantas Serva, an expert of the Lithuanian Innovation Centre, will tell about the textile industry in Lithuania, but Arta Munkena from the Swedish Trade & Invest Council will speak about business opportunities in Latvia. Kristīne Rudzīte-Žogla from Artex Latvia will share her experience and her success story. Participation in the seminar "Textile Industry and Business Culture in Latvia and the Baltic States" is free of charge. Working language: English. Register before 23 April.

“Baltic Fashion & Textile Riga 2019” will also offer a matchmaking event to be held on April 26 from 12.00–17.00. Industry professionals will have an opportunity to build useful, international contacts. Business people from Sweden are looking for cooperation partners in the Baltics, Europe and other parts of the world this year. Register for Matchmaking Event before 23 April.

“Baltic Fashion & Textile RIGA 2019”, 26–28 April, will be attended by companies from at least 11 countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, Poland, Russia, Italy, the UK, Bulgaria and others. Participants will offer a wide range of fabrics, sewing equipment and supplies, home textiles, as well as sewing machines and equipment for industrial enterprises. Visitors will also have an opportunity to buy ready-to-wear clothing, lingerie, sportswear, footwear for women, men and children, and a wide range of accessories.
