15 best dance groups will dance together during the Soļi rakstos/Moving patterns supershow
The Soļi rakstos spectacular dance supershow will be performed in Ķīpsala on 10 January at 20:00 by folk dance collective “Teiksma” and its friends – dance groups from Riga, Valmiera, Jelgava and Sigulda. Start your year in Ķīpsala with an amazing Latvian folk dance show!
“Soļi rakstos” is a show that dancers themselves affectionately call ‘the small dance festival in Ķīpsala” and this is the second year of the performance. Passion for dancing and stage friendship has brought together dancers from folk dance collective “Teiksma” and various dance groups, most of whom were winners and finalists of the XVII Dance Festival competition and grand prix winners for youth and middle age categories. Youth groups will be represented by “Imanta” and “Vizbulīte”, folk dance collectives “Dancis”, “Gauja”, “Lielupe”, “Līgo” and “Vektors”, whereas supershow’s middle-age dancers come from “Teiksma”, “DeTeiksma”, “Dancis”, “Gauja”, “Mūsu Lielupe”, Pūrs” and “Vektors”.
“Each group brings its own pattern into the show through their favourite choreography, artistic expressions for conveying the story and bringing audience a palette of emotions. The uplifting atmosphere, magnificent dance patterns and artistic skill of dancers are guaranteed to appeal to broad audiences,” Jānis Ērglis, choreographer and show’s artistic director.
“Soļi rakstos” is a blend of choreographic productions by Dagmāra Bārbale, Jānis Ērglis, Jānis Purviņš, and also new productions and award-winning choreography from creative competitions. There will also be marvellous choreography from renowned choreographers Alfrēds Spura and Jānis Vilcāns, pieces from IX Middle Age Dance Festival programme next May and new productions from young choreographers Dāvis Ērglis and Līga Indriksone.
