The producer of Riga Christmas Gala Viesturs Tīle tells: "Riga Christmas Gala we have been producing with great love for 10 years already is an integral part of holiday season. This year, along with the pearls of classical music, Christmas carols and song arrangements created for this concert, we will also offer the most beautiful melodies from previous concerts and the world-famous musicals staged in Kipsala. Hopefully, every listener will feel that kindness and sincerity that all of us – artists and organizers – want to bestow upon audience!"
The first part of concert will feature the Riga Dome Boys Choir and the orchestra M.O.T.O. performing the pearls of classical music – G. F. Handel's "Joy to the World" and "Hallelujah", the first part of A. Vivaldi’s "Gloria", W. A. Mozart's "Exsultate, jubilate" and the Bach-Gounod "Ave Maria". The Riga Dome Boys Choir will perform well-known traditional Christmas carols like "O Faithful Pine" and "Silent Night Holy Night" alongside lesser-known “How Far Is It to Bethlehem" and others. The singer Ingus Pētersons, jazz and musical singer Daumants Kalniņš will be performing along with the boys’ choir.
The second part of concert will take the audience in a wonderful musical journey through the pages of music with the RIGA Professional Symphonic Band and popular singers performing contemporary Christmas songs and music by such composers as A. Lloyd Webber, R. Pauls and other. The programme includes excerpts from R. Rogers’ “The Sound of Music”, L. Bernstein's "West Side Story" and C. M. Schönberg's "Les Misérables".
