Riga Christmas Gala at Kipsala Hall

Kipsala Hall invites everybody to celebrate Season’s Holidays together with wonderful academic and popular musicians at Riga Christmas Gala to be held on 25 and 26 December.



Riga Christmas Gala will present a constellation of wonderful musicians – renowned Latvian pianist Vestards Šimkus, who have performed in world-famous concert halls, crystal clear soprano Elīna Šimkus, promising operatic singer Kalvis Kalniņš, young and talented conductor Kaspars Ādamsons, Vidzeme Chamber Orchestra, the choir of Riga State Gymnasium No. 2, the mixed choir "Aura", as well as Patriks Tabaks, a soloist of Riga Dome Boys Choir and the popular singers Ieva Kerēvica and Marts Kristiāns Kalniņš.

A keyword for this concert is values –musical values of both the past and present. The programme includes the well-known arias and excerpts from Carl Orff’s inspiring cantata "Carmina Burana", masterpieces of piano repertoire, great movie melodies, songs from famous musicals and compositions by George Gershwin. Rihards Dubra’s opus “Silence, Love and Light”, the lyrics of which were written by Mother Teresa, will lead audience from the contemplation of silence through the power of love towards the eternal light. “Crazy Days” by Jēkabs Jančevskis, a young Latvian composer, will offer an ironic view on Christmas shopping boom. Traditional Christmas carols and popular melodies by Raimonds Pauls, Zigfrīds Muktupāvels and Aigars Voitišķis will create a real Christmas atmosphere.

The concert begins at 15.00 on 25 December and 17.00 on 26 December.
