The Baltic business technology and innovation fair “RIGA COMM 2017” will take place in November!
On 9 and 10 November, the International Exhibition Centre Ķīpsala will host the Baltic business technology and innovation fair “RIGA COMM 2017”, which has become a popular meeting place for entrepreneurs and heads of organisations and state and local government institutions. Like in previous years, “RIGA COMM” will offer a number of valuable events during the fair – the Internet of Things Conference, “HORIZON 2020” matchmaking event, “ALSO University”.
“The goals that were set last year were achieved – the content of the fair was more extensive and diverse, there were more innovative devices and solutions on offer and the fair was visited by many determined visitors. This was also acknowledged by the participants – part of the exhibition space at the fair “RIGA COMM 2017” has already been reserved. Our goal this year – an even larger fair and replenished content. That is why we are actively working on the programmes of seminars and conferences, which will reveal new horizons of knowledge in business and technology,” Andris Breške, manager of “RIGA COMM”, indicates.
In turn, Dzintra Švarcbaha, Project Manager at the Latvian Technological Centre and organiser of the Innovation Stand, says: “The 2016 fair was exciting and it did not only provide the workers of the Innovation Stand with new cooperation partners, but it also gave ideas on how to present oneself more successfully on the international market. We are eagerly awaiting “RIGA COMM 2017”, in order to help the new companies of the ICT sector in getting their first public experience!”
Exhibition of “RIGA COMM 2017”
Developers of digital solutions, devices and services, manufacturers and their representatives from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and other countries will introduce the visitors of “RIGA COMM 2017” to their offer, as well consult them and provide assistance in choosing the most suitable IT and business solutions.
The format of “RIGA COMM” makes it possible for its visitors to compare software and digital solutions for business on the spot, assess various digital devices and novelties of the innovation world, meet IT and business professionals in the same place and negotiate on cooperation in the introduction of new products and services.
Internet of Things Conference
Ķīpsala will host the Internet of Things Conference for the second time, and during it heads of the world’s leading companies – IoT developers – will share with their experience and visions for the future. Last year, the first Internet of Things Conference in the Baltics had outstanding lecturers, representing the leading companies of the world – “Samsung”, “Bosch”, “Tele2”, “Deloitte”, “Siemens”, “ABB”, “John Deere” and “Kaspersky”. “The conference was surprisingly popular among Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian visitors. The event also received high praise from our lecturers and partners, therefore we are not going to stop at the level we have set the bar!” A. Breške marks.
Gadget Area
Good news for all enthusiasts of the latest technologies – this year’s fair will also have a special Gadget Area! Everyone will have the chance to view, as well as try out practical smart devices and gadgets made for entertainment, as well as talk to their developers. Gadgets (more than 40!) were exhibited at “RIGA COMM 2016” for the first time, earning great interest from the visitors of the fair and the media.
“Taking part in “RIGA COMM 2016” served as particularly valuable experience for new engineers and startups. We received a lot of appraisals and useful recommendations, including – how to develop and promote the products further on. It was also at the fair where I received the first order for my invention – the wireless mobile phone charging station. That motivates! Therefore, we will also participate in the future!” Artūrs Paugurs, Head of the RTU AS “Latvenergo” Creative Lab, underlines.
Open Stage
This year the Open Stage will also host practical, useful and interesting presentations of experts and discussions of practitioners on technology and business development. The content will suit entrepreneurs, specialists and IT professionals from any sector. After receiving a lot of requests from visitors last year, we are planning to increase the number of seats and diversify the digital content of the stage.
“The topics were selected very successfully – they were understandable to every visitor, and it was possible to use the acquired knowledge in real work practically instantly,” Kristaps Jēkabsons, moderator of the Open Stage, recalls.
“HORIZON 2020” Latvian matchmaking event
For the second year, Ķīpsala will also host the “HORIZON 2020” Latvian matchmaking event, which is organised by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia within the framework of the European Business Support Network.
“HORIZON 2020” is a research and innovation programme of the European Commission, which foresees meetings between European entrepreneurs and innovative scientists in order to find new ideas and cooperation partners. Small and medium-sized enterprises, universities and research centres that wish to get involved in any of the “HORIZON 2020” projects and are looking for cooperation partners are invited to take part.
Last year, the matchmaking event was attended by 100 participants (111 meetings were applied for) from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Finland, Norway, Portugal, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom and Israel. There were previously scheduled meetings, as well as a seminar, during which experts from Norway, Estonia and Latvia shared their experience and practical tips regarding the preparation of “Horizon 2020” projects.
